Negligence of the Air forces, is the reason for the damages - CEB



Ceylon Electricity Board Security Consultant Major General M.R.W.D.Soysa stated that, the negligence of the air force, is the reason for the damages.
He further pointed out the indifferent attitude of the air forces; which lead the attack of the Tamil Liberation tigers at the Kalanitissa power plant. Such comments were given by him at a press briefing held in regard to the liberation tigers attack. Students, who are living in the Tamilnadu Refugee camps, are not in a position to sit for the examination



It is stated that Sri Lankan students who had sought asylum at the refugee camps at Tamilnadu are unable to sit for the G.C.E. Ordinary level examination.
Such students does not possess the mental strength to face an important examination, was stated by the Spokesman of Eelam refugees rehabilitation movement.During last year in December, when G.C.E Ordinary Level examination held in Sri Lanka, 60 Sri Lankan students who were residing in the Tamilnadu refugee camps, sat for the examination. Meanwhile, last year 2006, 100 students sat for this examination, out of this 26 were qualified for the G.C.E Advanced Level examination. But at present, due to the ongoing war, it has effected the students, hence they are not in the position to sit for this year s examination. Deputy High Commissioner B.M.Humza at Chennai, stated if the students residing in the Tamilnadu refugee camps intend sitting for the G.C.E (Ordinary Level ) examination, arrangements would be made relevant to this, was stated

One person shot to death at Kaluwankerny

person residing at Kaluwankerny, Batticaloa was shot to death. The said victim was 25 years old Yakoob Robin, was yesterday shot to death.
It is stated that Yakoob was sleeping in the front hall of his residence, while unidentified persons have lead the shooting and left, which resulted for his death, was stated. Inquiries relevant to the incident have commenced.

Military solution for terrorism and political settlement for public - President Mahinda Rajapakse

Turbine damaged in TAF air-strike on power plant in Colombo one killed



An employee of the Kelanitissa power plant was killed and one turbine and air coolers sustained damage Tuesday night when Tamileealm Air Force (TAF), the air wing of the Liberation Tigers of Tamileelam (LTTE) attacked the powerplant, sources in Colombo said. The air-strike was carried out on a target in Colombo after attacking the Thallaadi garrison of the Sri Lankan forces in Mannaar, causing casualties among the troops stationed at Thallaadi base, which functions as the rear station for the Sri Lankan military operation on Vanni from the Mannaar front.
Last time, when Tigers carried out a joint attack on Sri Lankan forces Vanni Headquarters (Vanni SF-HQ), the Sri Lankan forces claimed that they had shot down an aircraft of the Tigers. But, the Tigers had said their aircrafts safely landed after the Vavuniyaa operation. This time, the TAF bombers have carried out a long-range bombing mission, carrying out bombardments on two targets

Air strike near oil tanks in Colombo



A rebel Tamil Tiger aircraft dropped bombs near oil storage tanks in the Sri Lankan capital on Tuesday after another raid 250 km north targeting a military base, military sources said.
"The aircraft dropped bombs in Colombo near the oil storage tanks," a military source said on condition of anonymity. Another source confirmed it and said it was under investigation.

Foreigner, who piloted the lesser weight aircraft belonging to tigers, was paid 5000 dollars for each attack



Lakbima" newspaper stated that the attacks initiated by the foreign pilot who handled the Tamil Eelam Liberation Tigers small aircrafts, was paid for every attack 5000 American dollars.

3 IDPs wounded in SLAF attack



50-year-old mother of three, a 38-year-old father of one and a 41-year-old father of two, were wounded Tuesday morning around 11:00 when Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) bombers attacked two civilian settlements in Kilinochchi and Paranthan.
The victims were Internally Displaced Persons from Mannaar and Kilinochchi districts. 750 school children and 17 teachers were attending classes at Paranthan Hindu College at the time of the SLAF air-strike. The college is located 750 meters from the attack site in Kumarapuram where three houses and three huts were fully destroyed, One of the victim, Vinayakamoorthy Kandeepan, was wounded in his eyes, Two Kfir bombers attacked Kanakapuram, the suburb of Kilinochchi town at 10:50 a.m. destroying five houses with eight bombs. Casualties were avoided as most of the civilians had fled the village. Vinayakamoorthy Kandeepan, 38, father of one, displaced from 155th Mile Post to Kumarapuran, 1 km away from Paranthan, who was wounded in his eyes was transferred from Kilinochchi hospital to Tharmapuram. Chandran Pathmaseelan, 41, father of two, displaced from Mannaar sustained injuries in his shoulder. Sukumar Rathithevi, 50, mother of theree, displaced from Kanakapuram in Kilinochchi sustained minor injuries. Tension prevailed in Paranathan as panicked civilians were forced to seek shelter from the air attack.

SLA attacks Kilinochchi hospital, artillery barrage on town



170 patients, including 60 warded inpatients with the staff of the Kilinochchi hospital narrowly escaped Saturday evening an artillery attack launched by the Sri Lanka Army.
One of the shells hit the hospital premises destroying the front wall. The buildings of the hospitals are intact, patients and the staff were still remaining inside the hospital premises, according to initial reports. At least five shells exploded in the close vicinity of the hospital. Many shells have hit the town, initial reports said. SLA fired shells hit the hospital premises around 4:30 p.m. Saturday while the staff were attending a monthly meeting, according to the medial officials at the hospital. 110 patients came to the hospital for OPD treatment and 60 patients, including pregnanent mothers, were warded at the hospital including the patients admitted at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

President states, after capturing Kilinochchi, resumes peace talks
